FAQs

What is CopperEats?

CopperEats is a restaurant directory platform built specifically for local publishers. It monitors restaurant listings continuously — hours, closures, ownership changes, new locations — and keeps your directory accurate without your team having to chase corrections. Publishers stay in full editorial control. The system handles the upkeep

CopperEats is built for city and regional publishers who already run a restaurant directory, or who want to build one. If your editorial team currently spends time manually updating listings, verifying hours, or fielding reader corrections, CopperEats is designed to remove that work. It is not a tool for restaurants — it is built for the publishers who serve them.

CopperEats monitors restaurant data continuously using verified data sources and flags changes before your readers notice them. Hours, closures, ownership changes, and new openings are detected and updated automatically. Your team receives alerts only when something requires a decision. Everything else is handled.

That depends on where you are. Publishers starting fresh use CopperEats to build and launch a new directory. Publishers with an existing directory import their current listings and CopperEats begins monitoring from there. Either way, setup is handled through a simple WordPress plugin with no technical configuration required from your team.

As much or as little as you need. CopperEats is structured so publishers can run their directory largely hands-off once it’s set up — or work closely with us if they want more involvement. Plans scale based on your market size and how much you want managed for you versus handled in-house. The right level of support depends on your team’s capacity and how the directory fits into your broader workflow.

Onboarding starts with a call to understand your publication, your current directory setup, and what you want CopperEats to handle. From there, we walk through plugin installation, listing import, and verification setup. For publishers on higher-tier plans, onboarding includes a more hands-on setup process with CopperPress directly involved. For entry-level plans, setup documentation covers everything you need to go live independently.

Yes, always. CopperEats surfaces changes and flags updates — but nothing goes live without your approval unless you configure it to. You decide what the system handles automatically and what requires a human sign-off. Editorial control stays entirely with your team.

Support is built into every plan. The level of access varies by tier — from documentation and email support on entry plans to direct access and ongoing check-ins on higher-tier plans. CopperEats is built by CopperPress, a fractional CTO firm with 20+ years inside publishing operations, so support conversations are grounded in how publishers actually work.

Yes — once your directory is accurate and your readers rely on it, featured listings, sponsored placements, and premium positioning become viable. Publishers on CopperEats are generating $50,000–$200,000 annually from their directories. The monetization infrastructure is built into the platform. How aggressively you activate it is up to you.

Plans start at $99 per month. Pricing scales based on your market size and how much you want handled for you. There is also a one-time setup fee of $349. A full breakdown of plans is on the pricing page.
